IN THE OVEN CHARITY GOLF DAY 2025

A day of connection, generosity “…and that little bit more”

Our inaugural In The Oven Charity Golf Day brought together customers, suppliers, sponsors and friends of 5Ways Foodservice for a day that was about much more than golf. It was about connection, community spirit and supporting families who rely on Very Special Kids. Together, we raised $20,897.48.

From the moment guests arrived at Sandhurst, the energy was high. Fresh polos, packed backpacks, sunshine and the smell of toasties near Hole 1 set the tone. The banter on the course flowed easily as 84 golfers tackled friendly competitions, including Nearest to Pin, Nearest to Tin, Longest Drive, and two charity holes. The Pay the Pro hole, proudly supported by Very Special Kids, became a crowd favourite, with the golf pro landing shot after shot within metres of the pin.

But the most powerful moments happened off the fairway.

During lunch, the room fell quiet as Mel shared her family’s journey. Nearly everyone held back emotion as she described the support they receive from Very Special Kids. The highlight came when her son Wil lit up opening his Richmond Football Club cap and lunchbox, reminding us all why the cause matters. Catherine from Very Special Kids also spoke about the impact of their services, explaining that a single night in the hospice costs $1,500. Hearing this gave real meaning to the funds raised.

We welcomed 101 guests for lunch, awarded 12 raffle prizes, and celebrated a lively mix of golf achievements, including Anchor Professional and Sliced Pizza winning the NAGA award with good humour.

The feedback said it all.

“Best industry day I’ve attended in over 30 years.

“A privilege to be part of.”

“Incredible event from a team that genuinely cares.”

For us at 5Ways, the day was a proud reflection of our “…and that little bit more” philosophy. Our team rolled up their sleeves, sold raffle tickets with genuine enthusiasm and made every guest feel welcome. Many commented afterwards how proud they felt to be part of something so positive.

A heartfelt thank you to our major sponsor Fred Walker, and to the businesses, individuals and 5Ways team members who gave their time, energy and passion to bring the day to life. You helped us create something truly special.

This event marks the beginning of a new tradition. Planning for next year is already underway, with hopes of bigger prizes, even more involvement and continued support for Very Special Kids.

We look forward to seeing you on the course again.
